Bike Columbus Festival: Mayor’s Twilight Ride

A bigger and better Bicentennial Twilight Ride! Please join Mayor Michael B. Coleman for Columbus’ finest, fully supported evening ride. The event promotes a great example of the benefits of active living.

Proceeds support bike safety, bikes for kids, community gardens, and childhood nutrition initiatives. 

Friday, July 13, begins at 7:00 PM, begins and ends at COSI.  The event offers rides of 10 miles (before sundown) and 20 miles.

Cost is $25 (until July 10 midnight) and $30 (after July 10 and onsite)
or Ride both Twilight and Barbour Rides for $50 (until July 10 midnight) $60 (after July 10 and onsite)

Route

The unique route takes riders through the vibrant downtown area, including Columbus Commons, Scioto Mile, the new Rich Street Bridge, and other city gems. It also includes views of parks, city landmarks,  and a wide variety of architecture in neighborhoods such as Franklin Park, King-Lincoln, Victorian Village, and Franklinton.

RHYTHM ON THE RIVER | 2012 SCHEDULE

Rhythm on the RiverColumbus Recreation and Parks Department welcomes a variety of performing artists to Bicentennial Park for the Rhythm on the River series. Featuring everything from bluegrass to blues to ballet and more, attending a Rhythm on the River performance is a great way to spend summer evenings with family and friends. These FREE outdoor performances begin at 8 p.m. at the Bicentennial Park Performing Arts Pavilion, a state-of-the-art venue with architecture that reflects the design of the Scioto Mile Fountain. Food and beverage sales begin at 6:30 p.m.

2012 Columbus Arts Festival

Columbus Art FestivalThe 2012 Columbus Arts Festival presented by Time Warner Cable will celebrate its long-awaited return to the downtown Riverfront on June 1, 2 & 3.  The Riverfront will be transformed into a stunning outdoor art gallery as the nation’s top artists display their work and attract art enthusiasts from all over the country. In addition to hosting more than 240 nationally acclaimed artists, the Festival will feature fantastic gourmet fare from some of the city’s finest local restaurants, live music, hands-on art activities and more—there’s something for everyone!

Where can I park?

Parking around Columbus Scioto Mile is PLENTIFUL! There are numerous parking structures, metered spaces on surrounding city streets and surface lots on both the east and west side of the River.   Following are some maps of lots and garages around downtown and the Scioto Mile to make it easy for you to find a parking space when you come to the Festival.  There are also links to maps of the Columbus and downtown areas to help you navigate the area.

Blast at Beulah

2012 Blast at BeulahBring the entire family to experience one of the premier central Ohio celebrations of American independence. Enjoy live entertainment. Children’s activities are provided by Grove City Parks and Recreation and T.W.I.G. 184 beginning at 6 p.m. Admission is free, and parking is $5.

Bring a lawn chair and a picnic or purchase food and beverages on site. This is an alcohol-free event; coolers are subject to searches, and tailgating in the parking lot is prohibited. Pets other than service dogs are not permitted in the venue.

Fireworks start at approximately 10 p.m. and will be accompanied by a radio simulcast.

Fryer Flicks on the Hill – “Cars 2″

Grove City Outdoor MoviesEach Thursday, from June 14-August 2, a family-friendly movie will be shown at dusk on the sledding hill at, 3899 Orders Road. Be sure to bring a blanket or lawn chair. Attendees may bring snacks (no glass); ice cream and popcorn will be sold. For more information, call the Grove City Parks and Recreation office at 614-277-3050.
